US Department of Commerce Issues Internet Policy “Green Paper”

30 January 1998

In response to US President Bill Clinton’s mandate to privatize the Domain Name System (DNS), the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), part of the US Department of Commerce, issues a “green paper” proposing changes and improvements to the DNS. The Internet Society, the IAB, and the International Ad Hoc Committee (IAHC, Chaired by ISOC President Don Heath) provide important input that informs the creation of both this document and its revision, the final “white paper”.
