24-27 June 1997

INET ’97 takes place during the beginnings of what will become known as the “dot-com boom” and on the cusp of dramatic changes in the domain name space. The conference’s keynote speaker is Ira Magaziner, appointed by President Clinton in 1996 to head an interagency task force to develop guidelines for the US government’s Internet policy; the task force’s report, titled A Framework for Global Electronic Commerce, will be released within a week of the conference’s conclusion, on 1 July 1997.
