The United Nations creates the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) to continue the work of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). The IGF convenes stakeholders from government, industry, and civil society as equals to discuss Internet governance issues. While there are no negotiated outcomes, the IGF serves as an opportunity for those with decision-making authority in the public and private sectors, as well as civil society, to engage with a diverse array of Internet constituents.
The Internet Society continues to be an active participant in the IGF and, additionally, conducts an IGF Ambassadors Programme for young ISOC members with a strong interest in the issues and themes of the IGF.
