IoT Evolution Expo 2019

IoT can help us make a more sustainable world. But are we doing enough to protect consumers’ security and privacy? #SecureIt

Through a series of conference tracks, workshops, keynotes and general sessions, at IoT Evolution Expo you can hear about Enterprise IoT adoption, implementation and the enormous impact these technologies will have on driving operational efficiencies and increasing revenue.

Jeff Wilbur, Technical Director, OTA, will be speaking at IoT Security General Session – Security Hype, Hysteria & Hope, Friday 02 February at 10:00 AM.

Session Abstract: With the hyper-growth of the IoT market and increasing awareness of the associated security and privacy risks for consumers, enterprises, and the Internet itself, there are efforts underway worldwide to define new security and privacy norms for IoT offerings. These come in a variety of forms, from best practice frameworks to regulations and policy to certification and trustmark programs. Policymakers are also attempting to figure out how current data protection and privacy laws apply to IoT, and how they might be adapted to better suit the current and anticipated future environments. For companies wanting to participate in the IoT opportunity, the sheer scope and number of these efforts are dizzying.

To fully capitalize on the opportunity, companies must strike a proper balance and avoid the ends of the spectrum – “analysis paralysis” in an effort to understand every nuance vs blindly ignoring efforts that will shape the marketplace. In this session, we will sort through the various efforts, netting out the common elements and trends that all IoT providers should take into account in their product and business planning.
