Helping to create the open, globally secure, and trusted Internet? Share your story! #dontbreaktheInternet #CountMyVoice

The African Union Commission (AUC) together with the support of the Government of Sudan, is organizing the Seventh African Internet Governance Forum (AfIGF 2018) in Khartoum, Sudan under the theme: “Development of the Digital Economy and Emerging Technology in Africa”.

At the Internet Society, we are working for an open, globally-connected, trustworthy, and secure Internet for everyone. We aim to reform decision-making approaches to deliver sound Internet policies that put people’s interests at the center.

As part of our effort to build a digital future that puts people first, the Internet Society Africa Regional Bureau has proposed to organize two AfIGF-2018 parallel sessions:

  • Session 1: Strengthening the Institutional Capacity of Critical African Internet Institutions
  • Session 2: Creating an Enabling Environment for Community Networks in Africa

Learn how together we can #SwitchItOn

Dawit Bekele will be on a panel on Africa’s Digital Economy: access and infrastructure as fundamentals for digital economic growth (legal & policy aspects for promoting affordable and equitable access, building communities, alternative infrastructure, etc.)
